Design Evaluation
Early Intervention
Prevention is better than a cure. Our Design Evaluation reviews a set of website graphic concepts to identify any WCAG 2.2 accessibility issues, potential issues and considerations.
On large development projects simply doing an Accessibility Audit at the end of the project can be too little, too late. Accessibility consulting and testing are required throughout the duration of a project.
Why Get One?
Save time, effort and money. A Design Evaluation can hugely reduce and even eliminate costly retro-fitting. It’s estimated that a design review can catch up to 60% of potential issues.
It’s much more effective to update a graphic concept or wireframe diagram than it is to update a webpage or application.
What We Test
- Design concepts (e.g. JPEGs)
- Wireframes
- Prototypes
Who Benefits?
Our Design Evaluation helps the following resources understand their accessibility requirements:
- UX & Frontend Experts
- Graphic Designers
- Business Analysts, Project Managers
- Marketing Staff
3 Types of Issues
One: Issues We Can Identify
A certain number of WCAG 2.2 guidelines can be addressed and implemented on a graphic concept. In these instances, we identify where an WCAG 2.2 Success Criterion has been broken and an issue has occurred. For example, we can test:
- Colour contrast ratios of the colour palette used.
- Page layout
- Form label positioning, error messaging
- Images of text
- Navigation, including link text
- And more …
Two: Potential Issues
Other times we cannot identify if an WCAG 2.2 guideline has been broken, however, we can identify a possible issue. In these cases, we flag the potential technical accessibility issues and how to resolve it.
Three: Design Best Practices & Considerations
Finally, our report highlights design best practices and accessibility considerations that should be taken into account.
Put Accessibility on the Roadmap
Our Design Evaluation has the added bonus of making accessibility part of the project life-cycle, highlighting to team members the importance of accessibility from the project ‘get go’. Getting accessibility ‘buy in’ from the project team is critical to a WCAG compliant and accessible website.
Evaluation Handover & Support
Presentation of Findings
Handover of the evaluation report, and a presentation of the evaluation findings and phone workshop.
Support
Each evaluation comes with an extended four hours' email and phone support over 60 days.
We also provide support on an ad-hoc basis at an hourly rate if required, learn more.
Flexible Recommendations
One size doesn’t always fit all, especially with web applications and complex websites. If a recommendation can't be implemented, we will be happy to work with your team to identify an alternative.
