Word Accessibility Module

MS Word accessibility guidelines & techniques for:

  • Adding alt text
  • Including accessible charts & graphs
  • Inserting links
  • Page structure
  • headings
  • Lists
  • Headers & footers
  • Page breaks, formatting
  • Layout
  • Tables
  • Page columns
  • Text boxes
  • Forms (simple, non-interactive)
  • Converting MS Word to tagged PDF

PDF Accessibility Module

Learn how to create and test PDF documents using Adobe Acrobat Pro.

PDF accessibility guidelines & techniques for:

  • Tagging a PDF (see below)
  • Creating a logical reading order
  • Adding bookmarks
  • Ensuring tab order is correct
  • Adding alt text to images
  • Creating accessible data tables
  • Setting document properties
  • Testing with Adobe Pro built-in tools

PDF Tagging

Tagging is an essential part of creating an accessible PDF.

Tags provide vital information to screen readers on the type and structure of content, otherwise unavailable to these users.

Training Manual

Each attendee will be provided with a detailed training manual.

The training manual provides:

  • Step-by-step guide to creating and maintaining accessible PDF & Word content, including screenshots and code examples
  • Rationale behind why each technique is important & it’s effects on users with a disability
  • Additional examples, tips & tricks
