Drag and Drop

In this drag and drop challenge, users can move items into place by:

• Dragging the item with the mouse, or
• Expanding the item and selecting an option from the drop-down.

The functionality satisfies WCAG 2.2 Level AA, in particular Success Criteria:

• 2.1.1 Keyboard (Level A) as keyboard access is provided via the drop-down menus
• 2.5.7 Dragging Movements (Level AA) as functionality by mouse click is provided via the drop-down menus.

As an additional feature, an ARIA live region is used to announce each time an item is moved (e.g. "Natron moved to Mineral section"). This is not required for WCAG conformance; however, it can be helpful for screen reader users as each move is instantly confirmed.
