Similar to our Design Evaluation service, our HTML Template Testing evaluates a set of website HTML templates to identify any WCAG 2.2 accessibility issues, potential issues and considerations.

Expert Human Analysis

Our team manually review the HTML templates against the WCAG 2.2 guidelines Level A and AA Success Criteria.

Testing Software

We use a combination of accessibility software (e.g. WAVE Webaim) and developer tools (e.g. Firebug) to assist us identify issues. Note: these tools are different from automated software.

Assistive Technology

To ensure real-world accessibility, we test the site using screen readers (JAWS, NVDA) and screen magnifiers (ZoomText).

Mobile: Responsive Websites

We test the templates with VoiceOver on iOS and Zoom with Android

Keyboard Only

Critical to the accessibility of a website is being able to use it with only a keyboard (screen reader users don't use a mouse !!)

Our reports are easy to read and understand, while offering technical recommendations and bespoke code solutions.

Issue Description

We cite the relevant WCAG Success Criterion, and provide a detailed outline of the issue.

Impact of the Issue

A description of the impact the issue has on real end users.

Bespoke Recommendations

Tailor-made recommendations including code snippets and screen grabs to illustrate each issue.

Severity

All issues are not equal. We rate each issue from Minor (minor issue that is a matter of technical compliance and has little impact) through Problematic, Serious and Catastrophic.

We Include More Examples

One big failure of traditional testing is lack of examples.

Developers only fix the issues in the audit and are unable to extrapolate the issues across all the templates.

We overcome this problem by citing multiple examples of the issue - allowing for all instances of the issue to be easily identified and fixed.

Test Method

How developers can replicate this test themselves and check if the problem has been fixed.

Presentation of Findings

Handover of the HTML Template report, and a presentation of the report findings and phone workshop.

Each audit comes with an extended four hours email and phone support over 60 days.

We also provide support on an ad-hoc basis at an hourly rate if required, learn more.

Flexible Recommendations

One size doesn’t always fit all, especially with web applications and complex websites. If a recommendation can't be implemented, we are happy to work with your team to identify an alternative.
